How to get to Quang Binh
From Hanoi capital city
There are three ways to reach Quang Binh from Hanoi capital city, by flight (1.5 hours), by train (less than 10 hours) and by high-quality bus (about 12 hours). Due to the long distance and the very dangerous road between Hanoi and Quang Binh, riding a motorbike on your own is not a recommended option. You can buy a ticket for one of 8 daily trains between these 2 destinations at TSC agency (No 114 Pho Duc Chinh Street, Ba Dinh District) or Mua Xuan agency (No 41 Ma May Street – Hoan Kiem District). Sinh Cafe (open tour), Hoang Long bus, Dong Hien bus and Hung Long bus are these reputable companies running from Hanoi to Quang Binh. Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air are now operating flights between these 2 cities.
From Ho Chi Minh City
From Saigon, you can also choose one of 3 means of transportation to get to Dong Hoi (the centre of Quang Binh Province) but expect the traveling time to be much longer. It takes more than 20 hours to go by train (on the 1250km long route), less than 40 hours by sleeper bus (Hoang Long and Sinh Café bus operator). As the distance from Ho Chi Minh City to Quang Binh is too long to drive, traveling by plane or train is a much more recommended choice. A flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Quang Binh via Vietnam Airline, Vietjet or Jetstar can be as less as 1 hour and 35 minutes. After arriving at Dong Hoi Airport (about 5km far from Quang Binh City), you can catch a taxi to get to your final destinations or your hotel.
